Our goal is to improve our surgical patient care.
"Surgery is like a sport and we have to be the trainers. If you're not well trained, if you're not ready for surgery, you're not going to do well." - David Evans, M.D., Ohio State University.
While you are on the waiting list for your surgery there are some things that you can do to get ready for surgery.
What is Prehab?
The focus of prehabilitation is to use the period of time in which you are waiting for your surgery to improve your mental and physical health so that you will have the best outcome for your surgery.
As a patient, you are at the centre of your healthcare team! You can help drive the process of prehabilitation.
This website was developed in collaboration with the BCPSQC (B.C. Patient Safety & Quality Council) as part as a funded student intern project. It will provide you with resources to help you do this.
